Air purifiers work wonders for cleaning the air in your home or apartment, and you breathe so much easier when one is running. One of the hardest challenges most people face is choosing the right filter for their place and making sure that it’s effective enough. Today we’re comparing Medify MA-40 vs MA-112 to see which is best for you. They have many similar features, but very different sizes.

Our Medify MA-112 vs MA-40 review will compare these based on coverage area, clean air delivery rate, fan speeds, HEPA filters, special features, and more.

Read on to see which is right for you.

Coverage Area

Our Medify air filter review found that this brand is known for having large coverage areas, especially when compared to other purifiers of the same price. That being said, one of these purifiers is significantly bigger than the other and has a larger coverage area.

Medify MA-40 coverage area is 840 square feet while Medify MA-112 coverage area is 2,400 square feet. As you can see, MA-112 is about 2.5 times stronger than MA-40, but that makes sense because it is so much larger.

Many people use MA-40 as their main filter and it’s great for big rooms or apartments. Our Medify MA-112 review found that it’s good for your whole apartment, very large rooms, or even for your whole home.

Just make sure to balance the coverage area with what you actually need. It’s easy to say that MA-112 is better, but is it right for you? If you don’t need to clean a massive room, then MA-40 might be better for you.

Always be sure to consider the area you need to clean before purchasing a filter.

Medify MA-40 vs MA-112: CADR

This stands for Clean Air Delivery Rate and it’s one of the best ways to judge how good an air purifier is. CADR judges how much air the machine is able to clean, and it also tells you how well it removes particles such as dust, pollen, smoke, and more.

A higher CADR is always better, though a higher CADR often leads to a higher price. As you may have guessed from the previous section, comparing these two filters is about balancing price against your needs.

The Medify MA-40 CADR is 380 and Medify MA-112 CADR is 950. Just like with the coverage areas, this is amazing and makes them quite good when compared to their price. But, what is a good CADR for an air purifier?

You want to consider the area of your room first. The CADR should be at least two-thirds of the area. So if the area is 300, then the CADR must be 200 or more for effective cleaning.

Both of these are great, so just consider the area of your room to see which is best.

Medify MA-112 vs MA-40: Filters

Medify filters are among the best. They are actually rated higher than true HEPA filters, and they are able to remove a number of contaminants from the air.

Normal HEPA filters remove particles up to 0.3 microns. Medify H13 filters remove 99.9% of particles up to 0.1 microns. This is able to remove dust, smoke, viruses, asbestos, lead, pet dander, and much more.

Not only that, but both of these Medify purifiers use two filters, and each filter has three layers for extreme protection against particles in the air. A purifier is only as good as its filter, and Medify continues being among the best by using high-quality filters.

Fan Speeds

If you commonly find yourself changing the purifier’s fan speed to suit your needs, then you’ll care about this section. You want to make sure that the purifier is running as slow or fast as you want it, so having more speeds is better. Not only that, but this allows you to either save power by running slower, or clean more air by turning up the speed.

While there isn’t a major difference here, there is one worth mentioning.

The MA-40 offers three different fan speeds while MA-112 offers four fan speeds. This gives you a little more control over the MA-112, but they are nearly equal here. You still have many settings to choose from.

As with all the other settings, speed is accessed through the top touchscreen panel. The glass panel is beautiful and really shows off how modern these fans are.

Special Features

Many of the best air purifiers have extra features that give you an even better bang for your buck. Not only that, but Medify purifiers are some of the most modern on the market, so they made sure to add some extra features you’re sure to love.

Surprisingly enough, both of these models share the exact same features (excluding the one extra fan speed with the MA-112). We can’t say we’re disappointed because both are great, though we were hoping to see the MA-50’s UV disinfection feature on the MA-112.

Both of these offer filter replacement indicators so you know exactly when to change the filters, a child lock to keep kids out, timers that you can set between 0-8 hours, and the glass touchscreen for simple operation.

It’s a tie here because they are exactly the same, but we’ve seen Medify beat other brands, like when we compared it against Blueair 211+. This just means you made a good choice no matter which model you buy.

What is the Difference Between Medify MA-40 and MA-112?

Curious about what is the difference between Medify MA-112 and MA-40? While there are some differences, we didn’t find as many as we expected. That’s not a bad thing because they are both great filters, they were just very similar.

When it comes to coverage, MA-112 was about 2.5 times more effective than MA-40, and it’s about the same with the CADR rating. This makes sense due to its larger size, but MA-40 might be better for those looking to clean a smaller space.

They both use the same H13 HEPA filter, and they have the exact same special features. The only difference here was that MA-112 has four fan speeds while MA-40 had three, but that’s not a huge difference.

In general, it really comes down to the coverage area. Consider how much space you need to clean and the right purifier should be obvious.

Final Thoughts

If we were to go only by the numbers, then the winner in our Medify MA-40 vs MA-112 review would definitely be MA-112. These filters are nearly identical, but MA-112 is bigger and cleans more efficiently.

At the same time, this power comes with a cost. If you don’t need to clean a massive area, then the MA-40 might suit your needs (and wallet) a bit better.
